Another season down, sweat spilled, tears shed, laughter shared, and memories made. After an intense summer of rehearsals and workshops, Team Millennia wasted no time in auditioning an eager, talented group of dancers and selecting the 2005-2006 team.
This season we have thirty-three dancers and the largest freshman class at nineteen. TM is very excited to bring together so many dancers from such diverse backgrounds; past coordinators of other teams, dancers from highly-praised studios, and others in pursuit of dancing professionally.
In only the first month of rehearsal we have put in more work than anyone had expected. Danny, John, and Jed know what it will take to achieve our goals and they have quickly set the tone for the upcoming season. Rehearsals are fast-paced, challenging, and very rewarding. Never before has TM had such productive rehearsals in such short amounts of time. Our first set is nearly complete and we will be debuting it at Friendship Games 2005 on October 22nd. This is just the first taste of what TM has in store for this season so you won't want to miss it!

This year's auditions for Team Millennia attracted attention from over the Orange County area, including a handful of people from various parts of the Inland Empire. The three day long audition process this year proved to be very extensive, and for some a bit lengthy. On the evening of Tuesday September 6th 2005, marked the start to a new beginning for Team Millennia. Team Millennia Dance Center, otherwise known as "Under the Bridge", was packed with about seventy plus eager dancers all working towards the same goal... And that was, to claim their spot on the team.
In past years, tryouts were held at Cal State Fullerton, but since the opening of our new studio, this past year, we were able to utilize our new facility and host this year's auditions at “Under the Bridge”. The audition process for this year consisted of the first workshop, which was held on Tuesday, September 6th and was taught by TM's newest Artistic Director, Jed Charles Florano. A familiar face to many of us, Jed successfully managed to get us past all the anxiety and eased us into the whole audition experience. Next was the second workshop, which took place on Thursday, September 8th with Jaffar Smith, one of TM's main top choreographers, scheduled to teach the second piece for TM auditions. After learning both routines, we were then required to break off into groups of three to four people and collectively come up with about four eight counts of our own choreography which would have to perform the day of auditions.
Finally, on Sunday September 11th at six o’clock in the evening "Final Auditions" for Team Millennia began. The judges for this year were Danny Battimana (Co-Owner/TM Director), Trevor Bennett (TM Captain), John Abas (Asst. Director), Jed Florano (Artistic Director), Mario Naverete (Co-Owner/Director of Mayvn Entertainment CO.), Michelle Maramba (TM Manager), Emily Celis (Co-Owner/Finance), and Tony Calub (Co-Owner/Media and Graphic Media). With only the final interview left to go, the final cut was made. Out of the seventy plus people that tried out, only about 36 people were asked to return the next day, on Monday, September 12th for a group interview. A few hours later, after all their questions had been answered, the judges had the final team selected. Later that night thirty-three individuals all received the same call, "We would like to welcome you to TEAM MILLENNIA for the 2005-2006 dance season!" MAYVN ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE Alvin Benavidez
Mavyn Goes Off & Running and Finds a Sponsor
In the month of September Mavyn has been working on improving and perfecting its set as well as other projects to be left undisclosed. Most recently on Saturday, Sept. 24 Mavyn and the Supa Frendz performed at Nike's Run Hit Wonder 5k/10k run. They performed numerous times throughout the run while joggers cheered and continued their journey. Some of the other energy stations included Chingy and Nina Sky. Many runners watched, danced and one man did three back handsprings to show his enjoyment with the team. The sea of yellow runners applauded as Mavyn did their routine and high-fived the dancers as they ran along. Mavyn received free Nike shoes as well as two t-shirts of the event. Fuse TV was there to record the performance also, so look forward to seeing Mavyn on TV! Again!
The Supa Frendz also performed in San Diego House of Blues alongside Urban FX on Sept. 4. They spent the whole day and night in San Diego eating at Cotijas and Rodrigos, partying at the House of Blues, hanging out with some of Urban FX and the Wildboyz, staying up all night listening the how Andy Milonakis got discovered, and going to Willys Workshop to see all the new kicks! Oh what swell time.
Mavyn also held its first Dance-A-Thon to raise money for its show as well as spread its awareness to their family, friends, and community. Look forward to a very busy October as Mavyn will be hitting USC and San Diego! Hooray for dancing!
